Hi, I’m Joyce Anderson, creator of DIY Living Room Refresh. I have been a professional home stager and decorator for over a decade, and I have seen the “magic” happen in hundreds of homes time and time again!

Did you know that there is actually a formula for what makes a room beautiful? It doesn’t matter what style of furniture you have, or what look you want!

I have created this program to demonstrate that anybody, whether you think you have creative talent or not, can achieve a beautiful, cohesive look in their living room just by following a few simple steps!

DIY Living Room Refresh is broken down into five steps which can easily be achieved in one afternoon, or broken down into as many days as you prefer!
In Step 1: I teach you the steps I use to break down your current living room, how to set up a holding area, and how to organize your things.

*** One rule here: You must promise me you will only keep the things that you use and truly love! Anything you are allowing to live in your room that does not bring you joy and happiness should not be put back in your soon-to-be beautiful room! Deal?

In Step 2: You will learn how to read the lines and architecture of your empty room, discern its practical purpose, and learn the one thing that every room must have in order to make it a show-stopper!

In Step 3: I sure hope you ate your Wheaties this morning!!

Get ready with some warm-ups because this is where you are going to put
work gloves on and start reconstructing the space.

You will learn the tricks of evaluating traffic patterns and creating a room you will want to linger in instead of run in and out of with a shriek! I will guide you as you learn to place your furniture in the perfect spot and add back those pieces you PROMISED me are your most necessary and prized possessions!
You will also learn how to fill the inevitable bare spots with items that make your eyes and heart sing, without over-crowding the room!

Step 4: We move you from structure and placement to beginning to enhance the room with lighting, artwork, color, and decor - the real “jewelry” of the place. Sooooo much fun!!!

And, in Step 5: I will give you suggestions for where you can go from here to itemize and locate the pieces you may still need to bring your look to perfection.

Every good worker needs good tools. I am including a shoppable Tool Kit list so that you have everything you need to bring your living room (and everything in it) from here to there in a few short hours! I will show you the actual tools I use in my staging business every single time! Hint: they’re not expensive, and you can find them on Amazon!
To inspire you, you will have in your hot little decorating hands printable templates of suggested furniture layouts, based on the shape of your living room. Guess what? Guess work. Gone.
You will have no question about what to do with any wall with my example wall cheat sheets.
To keep you on track, I am including a Checklist you can either mark off online or print out to have handy as you complete your steps. They all build on one another, so you will want to make sure you follow the order and don’t jump ahead!

I encourage all my students to find an extra pair of hands to help make your project go smoothly!! That being said, I am not an athlete, I am 64 years old, and in good health BUT no physical power-house! The tools I itemize in the Tool Kit are the very same ones I have used to move a 14’-long heavy leather sofa and additional large items by myself with ease.
